Nothing more Patriotic than the first two episodes after the season four premiere being the two part Memorial Day special. Not that it was planned to be two episodes, but I didn't want to drop a 2.5 hour special on y'all.
So, we start things off with a new guest on the show. Stephen is your average 9-to-5 civilian, here to share random current events and news with us, as well as a bit of history. Also joining us, The Slayer arrives, albeit a bit tired, fresh off of leave from a visit to Ohio to catch up with family.
To get the show going, it's updates on The Slayer's romance life, and I recommend you check out some of the other episodes he's been in for a better understanding of the recent failures and successes that he's had.
From there, I share with everyone the purpose and origin of Memorial Day, which gets things a bit somber and sad for a moment. We reflect on it.
The episode then transitions into the convenience but difficulty of living at home or staying for an extended period of time. Specifically, we address the way that family dynamics change, especially if you are a member of the military. This includes the disconnect between parents and children once we get out of the house and are no longer forced to just have their perspective and values, and how they won't always like us once we start developing.
We get into the changing culture and recruitment of the military, as well as society, before discussing the issues currently facing patriotism as well as national peace. One of the focus points is on the military's education benefits.
From there, we move onto different types of warfare and the morality behind it. There's commentary on employment and the expansion of remote work, as well as a discussion on the weaponization of pregnancy.
Overall, there are plenty of jokes and laughs, but we do touch upon some serious subjects.
