Be it weight loss, fat loss, obesity or muscle building, high protein consumption is considered to be the best strategy at play! Basic premise behind this is protein helps repair & growth of muscles, improve satiety level & keeps sugar level stable! This is the basic reason we are told to follow fat diets such as high protein, ketosis or other high performance diets! However this is a flawed assumption, since there is no universal healthy diet. One man’s food is another man’s poison.

All the dieticians, doctors, coaches & trainers here miss the whole point- we are made up of bacteria living in our gut. Remember YOU+Bacteria=YOU. Bacteria thrive on carbs & fibre not on protein & fats. We should consume enough protein which can be fully consumed & metabolised in the small intestine/upper intestine.

The moment we consume protein in excess & it reaches our gut, it is fermented by protein fermenters residing in the gut & releases harmful gases. As such consumption of excess protein can lead to leaky gut & increase our risk of Cardiovascular diseases. Surprised?
