Did you know that heart break can lead to heart disease? Many die of heart attack with no plaque - and 50% who die of a heart attack have normal cholesterol. Arterial flexibility is the key! If your stress level increases it can create a tear leading to heart attack So we want to regulate stress levels- challenge is how we RESPOND to the stress in our life. A most contributing factor to heart disease in men is testosterone. But giving testosterone is not the answer, its that he is not making enough. Every man who has a heart attack has low testosterone. Every women with heart attacks High cortisol inhibits digestion, immune system and can cause high blood pressure. Generally, a year and a half after a big emotional and unresolved situation such as divorce, child, death, job change, etc can lead to health issues if unresolved. Learning how to deal with stress is the key to heart health. Key insight into how men and women can be heart health? For men - Heart opens when you feel successful in helping others. For women- When you feel successful in getting the love and support they need As a woman, if you are feeling unsupported, you have more adrenalin and cortisol and lesser estrogen and progesterone. Worst, the more women complain the worst it gets as it becomes a habit. Key insight is don't verbalize the negative but you can share the emotions. Just don't share based on the expectation of change. Complaining is a habit you want to break. We can even get addicted to complaining. Key is not to ignore the feelings, but share them with people who are not the Women before menopause require 10 times more estrogen than men. That means women need to talk 10 times more than men to share their emotions! Women need to share their frustrations or disappointments to increase their estrogen. How to share the right way: "You know, the other day with this happened, I had a lot of feelings come up. It's not a big deal but I just want you to know about it ...." I was disappointed or frustrated ... key is to add emotions as opposed to statements like "you don't care". The key to any communication is to start with the phrase- this is not a big deal, just take it into consideration. Anything else, he will defend himself. Learn to minimize and speak emotions. For men, when they get upset, this is not the time for them to talk to their spouse. The goal is lower estrogen and increasing testosterone. She will feel like she is your mother or she will shut down. When men talk about negative feelings their estrogen will go up! Men need to do something that makes them feel successful. They need to forget about their problems to get their testosterone up. When they do something they are good at their hormones go up, which is great! Men should not show emotions unless talking to a therapist who is going to analyze and support them. For women, anytime they do things that they enjoy doing, feel safe doing, their cortisol and adrenalin will go down. For men, anytime they do something difficult For men, retirement means 2 to 3 years to a heart attack, according to statistics. It's very important for a man to do a job that they feel good about, overcome a challenge, feel needed! A simple impactful change is to go on a "complaining fast". Stop trying to elicit sympathy from others. "Poor me" is addictive, and releases the wrong hormones. You want an attitude of sharing and letting go, instead of festering.
