We’re all too familiar with the sociopolitical glass ceiling holding people back based on their gender, race, age, disability and more. Today, however, I want us to turn our gaze inwards to address the often unchecked INNER glass ceiling: limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs are our brains' way of keeping us safe from the unknown, and unfortunately we’ve repeated them so many times that we can’t separate their fact from their fiction. In this episode I offer three steps to circumvent your brains well meaning but stifling habit of negative self-talk, that are identifying, unpacking and seeking help. However, asking the very mind that is holding you back to objectively observe and dismantle its own negative beliefs, is tricky at best. This is where one benefits from coaching because an objective third party is challenging your beliefs and facilitating the growth.
