Have you ever been in a relationship where you see warning signs but don’t act on them? For instance maybe you see jealousy, anger, or disrespect. Sometimes we can push those things off and tell ourselves that we can change them, or they were just having a bad day. But we have to realize that when people show us those glimpses of who we are, we have to take them at face value and believe them. No one has constant bad days, and we need to recognize that these are reoccurring tendencies and cut ties.

Often we will work really hard to put up with a lot of things in a relationship, especially early on because we want to make things work. But decide to choose yourself first, and to get rid of relationships that do not serve you. In the end you will be glad you did. When you first remove people from your life, it may hurt and it may be painful, but remember that by keeping them in your life you are doing yourself a disservice. Ask yourself if the other person is giving you love, grace, and respect in return, and if they are not, then accept it and cut ties.

Topics Discussed:

  • When you discover who someone really is.
  • Can you change people?
  • How to act on bad behavior you see in those close to you.
