In today’s episode I sit down with Melvin Childs and we talk about handling anxiety and stress in the workplace. We discuss his high stress work environment as a producer and how he calms his anxiety. Sometimes it’s important for us to take alone time and recharge both mentally and physically. With the phone ringing and the emails that pile up it can be difficult to disconnect and taking that time for yourself is vital so that you have things to give and offer to others.

It’s important to set boundaries to really protect our mental space. We discuss how to do that while still being kind and not just ignoring the feelings of others. But we have to recognize that the boundaries have to be there so that we can give more of ourselves to others.

We dive into how both race and sex play a role in getting into film-making in the current industry. We also delve into how differently our culture can be represented by those that are in it rather than our white counterparts who think they understand how we think.

Topics Discussed:

  • Handling stress and anxiety in the workplace.
  • The importance of finding your outlets.
  • Taking care of yourself with a busy lifestyle.
  • Taking account of culture in all things.
