Healing Childhood Trauma
Manage episode 272922918 series 2794882
Often trauma that we have experienced in the past can lay quiet for quite some time, and then it builds up over time until it spills out and wrecks our lives. It does this by lowering our self-esteem, causing us to have low boundaries, distrust, failed relationships, and more. It can even make us believe that receiving abuse is normal.
But it is so important to realize that it is not normal. We have to work through the past trauma with someone who can help us realize that what has maybe been our normal, is not normal and why we need to change our outlook on abuse and trauma in order to rise above it.
Even if you think that you don’t have any trauma, there may still be underlying things that you have forgotten about. In addition, sometimes we think the trauma has not affected us, and we are doing fine, but trauma will always come out in some way, maybe not today, but it will come out if not dealt with.
