In order to determine where someone is with regard to adverse childhood experiences, clinicians administer a test. Jana Wilson’s score is 10 out of 10. Her answers to all 10 questions were yes. Today, she shares with us her journey in doing the work for the past 19 years. And how she is now using it to support other trauma survivors.

Wise Little One, her new book, will be released next month. The book depicts how intergenerational trauma is conditioned. Our parents pass on part of their trauma story to us, most of the time unintentionally. The events of my childhood became the operating system of my life. At some point in our lives, we have to check in with ourselves and see if that operating system is out of date. Think of this like having a computer still running on DOS. It needs to be upgraded to thrive today.

It's all about walking back to your own heart, knowing that you have everything inside, even if you are self-loathing when you receive messages that you're not good enough. You are your own beloved. It was the missing piece. And Jana’s hoping to bring that message to the masses with her new book.

Forgiveness is a daily walk. It's a daily practice. And one that will support you on your healing journey. Self-forgiveness is also important.

There are 50 to 70,000 thoughts running through our minds at any given time. Pushing ourselves harshly is one way we abandon ourselves. Often, we judge ourselves. It comes either from our looks or from our performance, or from a combination of both. We're not always going to look like the models in the magazine or perform well. Even if we don't meet those expectations, can we love ourselves?

Our shadows are the parts of us that propel us. Join us as you go deep into transforming your trauma into your strength. Working with your inner child and your shadows is so important. Let's go on this journey to healing together.
