In this episode, teacher, trainer and author Niamh Daly talks about the effects of fear and pleasure in perimenopause. We talk about libido, and unpack the myth that perimenopause necessarily means a drop, or no libido at all.

We talk about how to bring more pleasure into your life, how that re-wires the brain, about the value of yoga and different varieties of yoga and other movement. We talk about the fear that sets in too, when our bodies don’t respond as well as they used to, and how to meet these issues with compassion.

Niamh has been teaching yoga since 2004. Seeing that there was very little consideration in the yoga world for the evolving needs of women over 40, in 2015 she began to develop Yoga for the Stages of Menopause, launching her YTT of the same name in 2020, which has trained hundreds of teachers worldwide. She also runs CPD courses in Yoga for Bone Health, and Menopause Awareness and Strategies for talk therapists and for fitness professionals.

Her book Yoga for Menopause and Beyond: guiding teachers and students through change is a great read for yoga practitioners and teachers, I found it really helpful for my practice and I’m not a teacher.

We started the conversation talking about orgasms, or rather, book-orgasms as you’ll hear….
