Do you need some advice on love? In today's episode, Emma gets us thinking about whether we are expecting from others what we actually owe to ourselves.

If you could talk to you, this is what it would sound like. In under five-minute clips, the Life Letters™ explores the topics of growth, change, self-love, relationships, and happiness. Hosted by author Emma Grace of Instagram’s hugely popular 'Live in the Details,' the Life Letters™ will hand you a daily dose of the words you never knew you always needed to hear.
Podcast Transcript: I'm going to let you in on a little life secret. You meet the people you need when you stop needing the people you meet. I know. People have reactions to that line. “It’s fine to need people,” you might think. Or— “What do I know about it?” Guys— look, whatever your reaction is to those words, I PROMISE it says something about where you are in your life. And if you are honest about your answer, it’s actually going to give you some direction. Some— GPS coordinates, if you will. If hearing that line makes you nod your head in agreement, then you’re growing in the right direction. You have obviously learned enough about how YOUR heart works that people have become complements to your life. Instead of crutches. But if hearing that makes you want to turn away? Get angry? Feel frustrated or lost? Then I’m going to be gentle— but firm— with this advice. You still have some growing to do. You do. And you don’t have to agree with me—and you certainly don’t need to change— but I do kind of hope this at least makes you think. Just— think. When you “need” people, it means you’re using them to fill a space in your life that you don’t know how to (or don’t want to) fill yourself. And the danger in that is if someone else manufactures something for you, then you do not control the supply of it. Which means— your happiness is dependent on something that IS NOT steady. Not— yours. So— use this as a pause. Reflect on it. Do you keep having people disappoint you? Let you down? Walk away? Well, maybe you’re meeting the wrong people, sure— but, maybe you’re also expecting from others what you actually owe to yourself. Just a thought, love. But an important one. When you stop needing the people you meet, you start meeting the people you need.
