Image Comics was born. Todd McFarlane "tormented" Spider-Man with Lizard while Amazing Spider-Man introduced us to Carnage. The year in video games brought us amazing titles like Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat, Sonic 2 and Ecco the Dolphin. The cartoon world was rocked by the appearance of both Batman and the X-Men animated series.
