This episode explores the gray areas of infidelity—finding out, the betrayed and the betrayer, and in this case, finding a survival guide to figure it out together.

Kim Hoban shares her experiences with infidelity in the early stages of a relationship. As Kim shares toward the end of this conversation, she hopes that by telling this story, by talking about it openly and honestly in ways that feel safe and good to her, that she’s providing a gentle path for someone else to follow and navigate in their own way.

We also explore gender norms, performing socially-expected roles in relationships, emotional maturity, friendship, trust, therapy, couples therapy, and again, finding those gray areas instead of accepting binary thinking.

Resources mentioned: Esther Perel's work (Podcast: Where Should We Begin), Dear Sugar podcast featuring Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond, and Cheryl Strayed's collection of essays from her time as the Dear Sugar columnist, titled Tiny Beautiful Things.
