Mike D and Adrock (aka Dr. Bayles and Dr. Phillips) continue the mindfulness series by exploring the attitude of acceptance (spelled "akseptens" according to Dr. Chinchilla Nice Nice). Acceptance is a transitive verb meaning to receive willingly or to endure without protest or reaction. Mike D offers the synonyms of openness, willingness, and acknowledgement to describe how acceptance as seeing things as they actually are in the present moment. Different then seeing acceptance as "waiving the white flag" in adversity, acceptance is aimed at accurately appraising the current situation which aids in making decisions for what steps to take next. Documented benefits of acceptance include reduced pain, stress, anxiety, depression, and management of other symptoms of disorder.
