In today's episode, join us on a journey with host Alex Greene as he shares his experiences and insights into somatic trauma work.
Alex's fascination with trauma work began during his study of Structural Integration Bodywork, where he discovered the potential of using the body as a gateway to address psycho-emotional history and trauma. Through deep tissue approaches, he not only improved musculoskeletal alignment but also facilitated emotional release and self-awareness.
Delving further, Alex explored trauma from a neurobiological perspective during the "neurobiological revolution." Groundbreaking theories such as the Polyvagal Theory and the works of Peter Levine and Dr. David Berceli provided new insights into the role of the nervous system in trauma. This led Alex to discover the transformative potential of neurogenic tremors and the therapeutic technique of TRE (Tension/Trauma Releasing Exercises).
In his practice, Alex integrates various modalities to offer a holistic approach to trauma therapy. Zen Integration Bodywork and Somatic Coaching combine hands-on bodywork techniques like Structural Integration, Myofascial Release, and Zero Balancing with non-hands-on approaches such as Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience (DARe). Through this synthesis, Alex aims to support individuals in their healing journey, promoting healing, release of tension, regulation of the nervous system, and fostering secure attachments and resilience.
Drawing from his Zen practice and trauma education, Alex integrates mindfulness, presence, and non-judgment into his therapeutic approach, allowing clients to deepen their connection with their inner selves, develop self-awareness, and tap into their innate wisdom and resilience.
