We are so excited to have Melissa Saavedra on our podcast! She is a Latina entrepreneur and ex-US Navy veteran. She is the founder of Steamy Lit, a romance book subscription service which includes three novels, a series of self-care items, and a vibrator in each box.

We spoke to Melissa about the origin of The Steamy Lit Box.

Aside from promoting sexual wellness, Melissa is also passionate about showcasing authors whose identity has been historically underrepresented, such as female authors of color, and authors from the LGBTQ+ community.

To promote more of those authors' books, Melissa founded Steamy Lit Con, a convention seeking to celebrate the romance genre and amplify historically underrepresented identities. The Rom Con aims to be a space to facilitate professional and personal connections and to build thriving communities for authors and readers alike.

Melissa shares some of the things that went great at their inaugural convention, as well as some rocky moments. Including a HORRIBLE story of the swag bag merchandise getting damaged on the truck from Florida to California!
