James Wedmore is a role model of emotional intelligence, of responsible entrepreneurship, and of high impact legacy. He supports entrepreneurs on both his weekly Mind Your Business Podcast, and his various Digital CEO training programs, to build businesses from the inside out; creating self-identity, business systems and content frameworks that generate profitable businesses and sustain meaningful legacies.

Naturally James is the perfect choice to guest speak on this episode of the Salty Truth Podcast where we talk about the importance of self-expression and how to deploy that responsibly as an entrepreneur.

Self-expression drives the purest forms of entrepreneurship. Fresh and often controversial points of view are what allow for innovation, disruption of the status quo, and the toppling archaic bandwagons that no longer serve. The most inspiring leaders were once considered crazy for their out-of-the-box ideas, and sharing those ideas took courage.

And yet we are seeing a cultural push back, of what can be interpreted as an attempt to censor free speech and self-expression, in favour of “protecting people” from interpreting these fresh ideas in a way that generates feelings of attack, offense or harm.

This fear of hurting others (or being seen as hurtful) is breeding entrepreneurial people pleasing and intensification of fear around being visible and vocal as a leader.

Critical thinking, introspection, responsibility, self-expression and freedom of speech are foundational to entrepreneurial success and cultural debate, and it’s crucial that we use creative and respectful ways to both speak freely and listen respectfully to these dynamic and diverse points of view.

This episode of Salty Truth explores the root causes of “offended”, the importance of not censoring the cry for censorship (mind bender!) and the ethical way to share thought leadership paradigms with pure intentions and respect for all… including respect for disrespect. Get ready for an emotional intelligence brain twister with special guest James Wedmore, that will ultimately free you to show up as unapologetically, respectfully and fully self-expressed, you.

Let’s rock.
