As we get older, we often hear more about varicose veins, especially in women (though men get them, too!). But what we don’t often hear about is what causes them and how we can try to prevent them. You might be surprised to learn that nutrition plays a big role in varicose veins, but it’s true. So many of our ailments can be attributed, at least in part, to poor nutrition and lifestyle choices. In this episode, we talk about what varicose veins are, what causes them, how we can try to prevent or resolve them, and how nutrition and hydration can affect varicose veins.

While genetics can increase the likelihood of varicose veins, there are things you can do to prevent them, or at least minimize their effects. Eating well and actively moving your body can certainly help, and these are things you should be doing anyway for your overall health. For varicose veins, and anything else involving your health, it’s important to discuss diet and supplement changes with your doctor. If you’ve ever wondered what varicose veins are and what to do about them, this is the episode for you.

What’s in this episode:

What varicose veins are and what causes them

Varicose veins vs. spider veins - are they the same?

Some nutritional keys to help resolve or prevent varicosities

How dehydration affects varicose veins

Herbs that help with varicose veins
