Shawnee Harle is a mental toughness coach who helps athletes make sense of what's going on in their head, cut through the noise, and unleash their inner tiger. She helps them figure out what to do with how they feel so they show up with courage and confidence when it matters most. And because it takes a village, Shawnee also works with their parents. She trains coaches, leaders, managers, teachers, employees, students, and young adults to strike the match and ignite the leader within.
She has 27 years of elite coaching and leadership experience, she is a 2X Olympian as the former Assistant Coach for Team Canada Basketball, she has a Masters Degree in Coaching Studies, she is a Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC) with Coaching Association of Canada, and she is a Master Coach Developer and Master Learning Facilitator with National Coaching Certification Program.

Shawnee's Notes from the Sidelines:

  1. Athletics and fandom are a melting pot.
  2. Competition allows us to show up for an opponent, but more importantly, for ourselves.
  3. Negative narratives get created from fear - fear of people's opinions (FOPO). Her 3-step process to managing FOPO is:
    1. have an opinion about the opinion.
    2. pull the rope back.
    3. how would you play if you didn't care?
  4. "When you worry too much what others think, you will always be their prisoner." In response to that, she suggests adding some F-You sauce.
  5. The opposite of judgement is forgiveness. Forgiveness is the missing piece to bouncing back in sport.
