Join hosts, Eric and Taylor as they introduce their new Podcast: Sober & Shameless. Learn the format and the approach in sobriety from just two drunks.
Show Notes:
In this episode we discuss our idea's for this podcast and begin exploring what it means to be sober in today's society.
Taylor opens with the fact that sobriety/recovery is not always Rainbows and Butterflies and ugly cries. Talking about our shame is important to our long-term sobriety.
We want to pull back the curtain on sobriety and show the authenticity of it.
Eric discusses the importance of two guys talking about their perspective about sobriety and recovery. We tend to not want to talk about recovery.
Banter on the structure of Sober and Shameless and what the listener will hear begins with bringing up many types of topics such as:
Misconceptions about sobriety and what is expected of us.
Start with WTF's and starting the process of "shedding the shame"
So much good in recovery. It's hard to do but it is so good.
We bring up the topic of shame and how powerful it is. We believe that shame can not survive spoken word, therefore, shedding our shame is a must if we plan to stay sober.
Communication is so important to our sobriety. There are many assumptions in sobriety. If I'm going to be shameless then I have to start with me. "What do you want".
Perfectionism and Codependence is part of the shame.
Failure is an option.
What is the reality of sobriety? What's actionable for us?
Have found a lot of Sobriety Knowledge from many different dogmas and we should be open to the process.
In conclusion,
Through connection, we are not victims anymore.

About The Show:
"Sober & Shameless” is a podcast that flips the script on what it means to live a sober life. Co-Hosts, Taylor Klinger and Eric Andrew, graduates from the University of Self-Inflicted Victimization, along with over 80 years of combined experience in “learning the hard way” and “finding the audacity”, invite people from all walks of recovery to learn about shared experiences through genuinely improvised, hilarious, and authentic conversation. In each episode of Sober & Shameless, the hosts, along with occasional guests, will pick a topic to shed their shame about, explore ideas on how to grow through those challenges, and provide organic, light-hearted, honest, and unprofessional commentary about their experiences with addiction, strength through recovery, and life in sobriety.
