What would you do if someone told you that you are not allowed to pursue a certain sport or passion because of your genetics?
Ultramarathon Runner Lisa Tamati experienced that at the beginning of her athletic career, but it didn't stop her. That very statement alone allowed her to work around her genetics, build strengths, and understand weaknesses that enabled her to achieve the impossible - completing over 140 marathons and conquering the 222km track of the Himalayas.
Lisa Tamati is renowned for being a Professional Ultra Endurance athlete with 25 years of experience running the toughest endurance events in the world.
With over 140 ultra-marathons to her name, as well as National Titles and numerous podium places in international races, Lisa is constantly pushing the limits of human endurance. Lisa has also penned two international best-selling running books and is a sought-after motivational speaker and health optimization coach.
In this episode, Kashif and Lisa discuss the importance of knowing one's genetics in order to fully optimize health, longevity, and the rate of aging. Lisa's profile is the perfect example in this case. Lisa shares how she deals with oxidative stress, how she restored her health to an optimal state, her diet, lifestyle, and how she keeps her aging rate to a minimum.
Throughout the discussion, Lisa also recounts one of her most memorable races, also known as the world's highest running race, where she battled through a series of trials - asthma attacks, lack of oxygen, fear, extreme temperatures, and everything else imaginable, yet proven possible by Lisa and her peers.
