“It's just very, very different, because they were talking about being 85 years old is different than being 39 years old. They're talking about great grandchildren and retirement and things like that. And, you know, here I was, we hadn't even bought a house yet, we didn't have kids yet, so our whole future was taken away, and it was very different.”
Kelley's husband died unexpectedly in 2011, leaving her widowed at age 39. Out of her shock and grief, Kelly decided to write about her experience and share her story with the world. She has since written a book, given a Ted talk, and become a speaker on the topic of loss and grief. Kelly loves connecting with others who have experienced similar losses and helping them to find hope and healing. For Kelly, the journey to finding a support group was very different because she was widowed so suddenly.
