Welcome to the Guilbault Girls Show where you will have the opportunity to hear from mothers, fathers, siblings, and individuals themselves about their journey of living with a disability.
Todays Guest is Angela Sittler, You may recognize her from our last episode, as we dove into her personal story. Today we are going to share more of what Angela’s role is as the Family Supports Manager at The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region.
Angela came to The Arc NCR from the Maryland Office for Genetics and People with Special Health Care Needs (OGPSHCN) where she was the family resource coordinator since 2011. While she was there, she created a searchable resource database for families and providers statewide and gave presentations on finding resources, caregiver stress, and supporting the families of Children/youth with differing abilities.
She is also the mother of two sons that have differing abilities. One with Asperger’s, ADHD, and anxiety, and the other with Au-Kline Syndrome. In caring for them throughout their life she learned how to find needed resources and was able to use her knowledge to serve other families on her local SECAC, the Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital Family Advisory Council, Johns Hopkins Pediatric Family Advisory Council, and as a past member of the Maryland Caregivers Commission.
She earned her Master’s in Health Science, with a dual concentration in Community health and health administration from Towson University in 2018. In her free time, she volunteers with her local fire department and is the Vice President of the Au-Kline Syndrome foundation.

“It takes a village to raise a child” is an African proverb that means an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to grow in a safe and healthy environment.
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say it’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem. Then there are those who see the need and respond.” -Fred Rogerss
