Season 2 | Episode 12

Today we’re sitting down with our friend Amber Legge for an emotionally-charged, raw and riveting story of her experience with childbirth and breastfeeding, and all the self-discovery that came along the way. Society’s expectations of mothers have evolved with a steady ebb and flow over the decades, and sometimes it can feel like a mom can do no right. Many of us parents have felt the overwhelm of wanting to do everything right, no matter what that sacrifices from our own wellbeing. And while everyone seems to reiterate that it takes a village, we know all too well how lonely of a time new motherhood can be. These impossible standards in the world we live in make it more important than ever to allow yourself to ask for help when you need it, as well tuning into the cues your own nervous system sends your way to let you know you’re carrying too much. Ultimately, what is best for the child is what is best for the mom. So identify what brings you joy, what fosters peace within your family, and no matter what anyone else thinks of that, claim it, own it, and you will find your tranquility in the blessing it is to call yourself a mother.
