This topic we are presenting today on The Hormone Genius is very specific, Lutenized Unruptured Follicle syndrome. It likely does not apply to most of you listening today, however, for those whom it does apply to, it is a very important topic. There are many types of ovarian cysts and this is just one type we are discussing today. Remember that every menstrual cycle your body makes a cyst on one ovary, called the follicle which grows to approximately 2.2 CM and then releases an egg in the natural process we call ovulation. So we all have an ovarian cyst every menstrual cycle. But, there are abnormal ovarian cysts as well and when this occurs they can disrupt the normal process of ovulation, cause pain, and even lead to a cycle that is infertile. An LUF is a cyst that fails to ovulate, goes through the process of lutenization, and grow larger than normal filling in with debris. Today we will take a deep dive on the issue of LUF cysts. A reminder that this is not medical advice and if you have concerns about your own individual health symptoms, you should speak to your doctor. Teresa and Jamie want to open this conversation up to give you a knowledge base of this particular issue and empower you with knowledge so you can advocate for the best medical care which is what you ALL deserve.
