It could have happened in any parish or diocese, any religion, for that matter. It just so happened to involve Buddhism.
We’ve seen sickening behavior in small groups as well as in the papacy. After all, it only takes one person to corrupt an organization, especially when that person is in the leadership, a frequent occurrence in homegrown religions based on a cult of personality.
