“This product contains ingredients known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm.”

These labels are seemingly everywhere now thanks to Proposition 65, a California State law that – thanks to online retail – has now made itself known across the US and Canada.

But what does it really mean? And should you panic if you see it on a product you thought was safe – or hadn’t even considered there might be a concern?
