In this episode of Diamond Mining, Blaine tells a story of the time when he learned about the Japanese art of Kintsugi, the art of ‘gold joinery’ or ‘gold repair’ of pottery. The art of Kintsugi is more than just a way to repair broken pottery though, its also a philosophy of highlighting the flaws, imperfections, and the breaks in the nature of the pottery as a way of expressing the most valuable aspects of it. The philosophy carries over to human beings as well and implores us to not be ashamed of our broken and repaired places within but, instead, highlight them as a part of who we are and the things that make us the most valuable.
