Our guest is a patient of the medical system who decided to take health into his own hands and educating himself of his medical condition. This is a story of a patient seeking to fight for his life after a life altering injury, that led to true personalized care and a fascinating journey to recovery giving a new lease on a new life with a new purpose.

On today's podcast we interview Cavin Balaster, who sustained a very significant traumatic brain injury in 2011 which may have left him bed ridden had he decided to accept his situation. However as of 2018 he is spreading the word of brain healing helping other people heal from this kind of an injury or insult.

In this story following his injury Cavin’s initial MRI did not show any devastating problem. He however did have some significant damage in a few days.
Cavin had what was called a diffuse axonal brain injury due to a fall and trauma to the skull and brain.
Initially his CT scan showed no specific findings but later showed some extensive damage including blood collection outside his brain putting pressure on his brain called subdural hematoma.
He was given 10% chance of recovery and a high possibility of being in a vegetative state.
