Yoga practice with Caitlin Rose Kenney: As a former ballet dancer, Caitlin Rose knew exactly what her friend, who's a professional dancer, meant when she requested a yoga sesh focused on relieving the neck and shoulders. Dancers aren’t the only ones who carry chronic tension in the neck and shoulder area. Due to the frequent use of technology and tension patterns created when driving cars, the neck and shoulders get rigid. This 52-minute practice is designed to bring mobility and ease back into the neck and shoulders by titrating between dynamic strengthening and softening. Caitlin Rose opens the practice with a simple joint lease series that begins in the hands and works systematically into the shoulders. She then guides you through Sun Salutations and then targets the neck and shoulders with poses that alternate between heating and releasing. The class winds down with outer hip stretches and supported inversions. Recommended props: 1 block and an open wall. Practicing outside? A big tree trunk will work too ;) Moves and poses to know: "Shoulder Clock" at a Wall, Surya Namaskara A, Virasana with Ushas Mudra, Anahatasana (Puppy Dog Pose), Forearm Plank, Dolphin Pose, Neck Release, Gomukasana (Cow Face) Legs, Garudasana (Eagle) Arms, Supported Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose) & Viparita Karani on a block (“Block Stand”).
