In this episode, I am diving into the fascinating world of fiber and gut health.
Fiber is a type of non-digestible dietary carbohydrate found in a variety of plant foods. Consuming a variety of plant foods such as various fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds and whole grain unprocessed foods is, the best way to ensure a sufficient dietary fiber intake. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends that Americans consume 19 to 38 grams of fiber per day, depending on factors such as gender and age. However, most Americans fall short of these recommendations.
