On this episode of Yours Mentally we talk about patriarchy and its effects on a women's mental health.
We start the episode by discussing psychosocial factors affect our mental health and what kind of social norms affect our mental health and why.
We then go on to discuss patriarchy in the Indian society and how it affects people. We also talk about the aspects of our society make us a patriarchy.
We then go on to talk about the link between the increased prevalence of mental health issues in women and and patriarchy.
We further discuss about practices within Indian families that can be detrimental for the woman’s mental health.
We also discuss how women are body shamed and slut shamed for doing certain things whereas if men did the same, they are not told anything for it.
Lastly we talk about how women are always expected to be perfect whereas men aren't expected to do half as many things as women.
