On today's episode of Yours Mentally we talk about the stigma around mental health. This episode is in conversation with Aanandita Vaghani who is a Counselling Psychologist.
We begin the episode by asking Aanandita what exactly do we mean when we say that there’s a stigma around mental health?
We then go on to talk about some other things that are stigmatised in society (just to get a clearer idea of what exactly stigma is)
We also discuss about why stigma exists in society.
We also ask her if there is a particular group that is stigmatised more or does it prevail equally among all groups?
We then ask her to talk about how is this stigma harmful and why is it necessary to rise above it?
We also speak about the kind of behaviours lead to the stigma around mental health.
We ask her if we have been making any progress when it comes to rising above the stigma and what does this progress look like?
We also talk about what we can do as students in order to decrease the stigma around mental health.
Lastly we ask what parents and adults in general can do to rise above the stigma?
