This episode features Aamir Wani: the famous photographer, filmmaker, poet & a writer from Kashmir.
Aamir’s work is hugely inspired by Kashmiri-American poet, Agha Shahid Ali, & he is a multi-award winning photographer who has been honoured with India’s Best Travel Photographer by Travel + Leisure (2017,) the mBillionth award by DEF & the UN World Awards for Heritage & Tourism (2018) alongside many MANY more accolades!
After graduating from the university in the UK, Aamir returned to Kashmir in 2014 & started his photography career soon after. He has dedicated his art to showcasing Kashmir as a story of hope, love, beauty & innocence. His stunning Instagram account “Kashmir Through my Lens'' undoubtedly earns him an easy ‘follow’ with over a 100k followers. Aamir’s work makes you fall in love with the history & culture of Kashmir. He is currently pursuing an MFA in filmmaking in Paris and is here to chat with us about his inspiring journey to becoming one of the most well respected photographers in Kashmir!
