In this episode, I speak with Julia Broglie, founder of BroglieBox who I met through my mentor, friend, and previous podcast guest Kevin Hines. I wanted to put a trigger warning in here to say that Julia talks about how her brother aged 24 died from suicide. After that moment she made it her life mission to learn about suicide and to help other people, including herself with her own mental health journey. 💕

She talks about how she didn’t have the correct language to explain how she was feeling and that it was a really important part of her journey to make sure she understood the tools and words to use to support and comfort someone in her brother’s position but also for herself. ✨

What to expect:

💫Julia explains how her brother was very open about his depression and suicidal thoughts when he was at high school, but she felt her family and herself had a lack of education around the topic and didn’t know how to help.

💫She talks about how much she was struggling with the situation and the pain she was in living with her own mental health conditions.

💫We talk about therapy and how working with her therapist Julia managed to discover the correct language to use around this topic of mental health.

💫We learn that asking someone directly if they are considering suicide is the best place to start, even though it feels like a hard thing to do.

💫We talk about anchoring and how to identity what anchors us.

💫And finally we discuss THE question.. is self-care selfish?

I hope you enjoy this episode and make sure to check out the work Julia is doing with her company BroglieBox … it’s #IMPORTANT.
