Welcome to Episode 011 of the CVD podcast with Liseth Velez.

This episode was originally going to be released on Monday, but in the US, that day was Memorial Day. Having served in both the Army and United States Air Force, Liseth is a veteran and after talking about it, we decided that Monday should just be a day to remember and honor those that have fought and fallen for their country.

So, here we are, two days later with this incredible episode.

After serving for 8 years, Liseth went into liquor sales and is now Founder and CEO of LJV Development, a general contracting company that serves all of New England.

She is also Chairman of the Board of a non-profit organization called LIT Conversations, which gives high school students the opportunity to speak with professionals so they pursue a career in STEM.

In this episode, Liseth and I talk a lot about mental health. I didn’t expect to spend so much time on this topic, but hey, it just goes to show how important and prevalent it really is.

Liseth talks about how a deployment to Djibouti, Africa really changed her perspective and who she was as a person. When she returned home from this deployment, she realized that something wasn’t right and decided to seek help because she knew she couldn’t live her life that way.

She also tells me how she combined her experience serving her country with her passion for sales and construction to form her dream company.

Let us know what you think! Here we go!
