From Victim to Victorious; Finding My Voice Through Healing

This season, I'm exploring the theme of healing. In this fourth episode, I discuss my journey from victim to victorious. I share my experiences of overcoming trauma and injustice with you and how I found my voice through healing.

ABOUT CHIQUITA JOHNSON:
A Baltimore native, Chiquita Johnson grew up full of life, loving to laugh and spend time with friends and loved ones while also facing many dark moments of physical and sexual abuse that were hidden away for many years. Chiquita found joy in nurturing and caring for her younger sisters while spending time with her grandmother. Chiquita began playing basketball in middle school, becoming one of the most athletic and aggressive players! This was Chiquita’s way to cope with some of the darkness in her life, but it also became one of her favorite hobbies that soon led to many opportunities. In 2012, Chiquita graduated from the University of MD University College with her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. In 2014, she obtained her Master's degree from Liberty University in Human Services Counseling and Criminal Justice. Chiquita allowed her life experiences and circumstances to shape her career and educational interest, allowing her to hold numerous positions throughout the state of MD in Mental health, Substance abuse, and many other avenues. Chiquita also and still advocates for women and children of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Chiquita wanted to deepen her healing while also trying to help and encourage others to do the same. In 2019 after another suicidal attempt, Chiquita started her blog to clear the air about things she had endured and encourage others to never give up on themselves. Chiquita is a true testament to not giving up on yourself and how when true healing takes place in your life, it opens new doors and opportunities to explore life.
Chiquita created the “Chronicles of a Virgo” podcast as a space of healing and motivation not only for herself but for others. Through her journey, she has experienced some great losses and health issues, but she has continued to stand in her power and recreate the life that she now knows she fully deserves and uses her voice and platform to uplift others. Chronicles of a Virgo podcast, launched in January of 2022, has touched the lives of many individuals from many countries and people from all different backgrounds. Chiquita has been able to hold space with people from different walks of life, and all have a story, a story to tell, and a story that has allowed them to pour back into others.
