In the US alone, 100 million people suffer from chronic pain. Worldwide, 1.5 billion people are afflicted with it. According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine, it affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. Chronic pain forces people to change jobs, or stop working completely.
