Today we are joined by Dr. David Perlmutter, a Board-Certified Neurologist, Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, and author of the popular book, Grain Brain. He is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of nutritional influences in neurological disorders, and is a frequent lecturer at top medical universities. Dr. Perlmutter has helped so many people come to understand what excess grain consumption can do to our bodies, and what other ingredients, like sugar, can do as well. In this conversation, we talk about pushback that he’s received about his books and beliefs, the baselines of disease prevention that need attention, and women’s health. Dr. Perlmutter also shares his journey from neurology, into the spark for the work that led him to opening up his own practice, and ultimately to writing Grain Brain.

We also talk about…

  • What Dr. Perlmutter has learned
  • The disconnection of knowing and acting on information
  • Inflammation and paying better attention to it
  • Maintaining diversity in the gut
  • The wheat industry in America + gluten-free
  • Dr. Perlmutter’s spiritual journey
  • How relationships have played a part in his life and his practice
  • What Dr. Perlmutter eats and how he moves
  • The message that Dr. Perlmutter has for our generation
