Your Creative Sparks:

  • Order and hierarchy are an ILLUSION, and perception is a CREATIVE act.
  • ENLIGHTENMENT is the opposite of RATIONAL thinking and CRITICAL judgement.
  • The LESS I know what I’m doing or how I’m doing it, the BETTER it goes.

Every story has a protagonist and an antagonist. It’s easier to tell the story. The NEW paradigm is the dissolution of aesthetic boundaries. Lobsterbird visits her mentor and spiritual mirror, Gerald Busby in New York City, where we are jostled out of our limiting views with his *alarming* embodiment of his progressive ideas on consciousness, enlightenment, and the foils of life. “My job as a person is to realize that this life is a wide open space, like the plains of Texas.” Leave us a Rating & Review!

Your Travelogue

  • You can become aware of yourself as reactive, and choose otherwise. Acting in his first movie and surrounded by starlets, Gerald was so frightened he could hardly breathe. “Robert Almond said to me, ‘Don’t resist your fear. Use its energy to tell your story.’” Focus on the energy and flow with it. Get out of your head. [13:40]
  • Your repertoire of words, thoughts, and experience are in a corral of sorts that you have built with your consciousness out of a need to contain them. But there are actually no boundaries. Being mindful is understanding that there are no limitations whatsoever. Meditation puts you in the position to perceive yourself as non-aesthetic. [19:15]
  • You think you need a foil. You need an enemy to know who you are. You get the most power from your group by agreement, and the best way to create an agreement is to create an enemy. That way we must come together. [23:14]
  • The things that concern you are your thesis. Then you meet someone who disagrees with you, and they become the antithesis. When these two forces start talking and having a dialogue and form a new *synthesis*. [28:50]
  • Stop defining yourself in terms of your ability to describe yourself. Get away from critical thinking. Simply be present, and turn yourself over to the mind of intuition. [34:08]
  • “The truth is what’s so. It’s also so what.” The essential existence of something is precisely the opposite of your intention to nail it down. There are no limits, and values are arbitrary. [41:15]
  • Gerald’s view on morality: You manufacture whatever you need to keep your tribe cohesive and together. And the quest for certainty? There is none. You create it. Certainty is whatever you say it is. [50:18]
  • Consciousness is a mattress. “I’m lying on the mattress of consciousness,” says Gerald. It’s the elimination of resistance. To imagine yourself as a non-aesthetic being is to not resist anything. [59:19]
  • The best things that happen to you are ostensibly by accident. You are really in tune with yourself when you turn yourself over to accidents being the highlight of your life. The more terrifying the better. [1:15:05]
