In this episode I'm talking to Helen Thornber - my dear, dear friend and the name behind the Unicorn Factory. She's a writer, coach and self- development geek who loves helping people to help themselves. Her first book Shift Your Experience will be published in early 2019. The Unicorn Factory is on a mission to make feeling good the new normal. Over the past decade Helen has shifted her perception and experience of the world.

Along the way she’s learned that happiness doesn’t mean being happy all the time, forcing yourself to like the stuff that sucks or having everything figured out. She discovered that happiness is enjoying life as it is right now in all its imperfect messiness, and as a result she’s having more fun than ever making her own dreams come true.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Cycles of depression and deciding to stop them
  • Working through things you don’t like about life
  • Coaching
  • Businesses that go wrong
  • Day jobs - many different jobs
  • How one thing leads to another while you just give yourself space to get to know yourself
  • Figuring out how things fit together
  • Fear of not being taken seriously in your business
  • Taking the plunge
  • Feeling like you have to figure yourself out at 18 or sooner
  • Taking opportunities and leaving opportunities if they don’t feel right
  • Listening to your intuition despite having no clue what it is
  • Belief that things should be hard. That doing things the hard way is the only way. And then shifting that
  • Enjoying your life as it is and so much more!
