Ever hit a roadblock in your creative journey? I know I have. I'll take you through my personal voyage of rediscovering my creativity after a bout of flu and the loss of my Fur Baby, John. Be a part of this intimate and reflective journey where I find solace and inspiration in re-writing my old blog posts and struggle to reconnect with fiction writing. Trust me when I say it's essential to complete what we start, more so in our creative pursuits.
What if the traditions we've embraced aren't all that they seem? As an immigrant, Thanksgiving was a new concept for me. Experience my journey as I uncover the truth behind this holiday. It may be uncomfortable, but it's important we examine the celebration in the light of its historical origins, moving beyond the European perspective. Through research and reflection, I have gained a deeper understanding of the true history of Thanksgiving and how it intertwines with manifest destiny and colonialism. It's time to question, reflect, and align our actions with our values.
If you want to do a bit of searching, here are some resources:

  1. Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" โ€“ This eye-opening book provides a critical perspective on American history, shedding light on the less savory aspects of Thanksgiving's history.
  2. The Smithsonian Magazine โ€“ Their article titled "The Myths of the Thanksgiving Story and the Lasting Damage They Imbue" delves into the myths and realities surrounding Thanksgiving.
