In the 98th episode of the Historic Performance Podcast, I interview John Kiely. John is a Senior Lecturer in Elite Performance at the University of Central Lancashire.

Prior to taking the role at the University of Central Lancashire, John worked as a power training specialist at Munster Rugby and as the Head of Strength & Conditioning at UK Athletics. He has authored numerous articles and publications including Periodization Paradigms in the 21st Century: Evidence-Led or Tradition-Driven published in the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance in September 2012 and Uniqueness of Human Running Coordination: The Integration of Modern and Ancient Evolutionary Innovations in the Frontiers.

In this episode, John discusses neuroplasticity, the legacy of injury, and restoring movement variability during rehabilitation and return to play.
