Let's talk about histamine and mast cells in the gut! There is a lot of research showing that people with IBS (and therefore, probably SIBO) 1. have more mast cells in their guts and 2. the mast cells that they have in their guts are more reactive than "normal" people. But does this mean that everybody with IBS or SIBO needs to follow the low histamine diet? Does it mean that the savior for all with IBS is quercetin..? Stay tuned as we revisit histamine and the gut.
