Living with Someone Struggling with Addiction
Manage episode 272922925 series 2794882
Regardless of who it is, a friend, family member, co-worker we all may experience someone who struggles with some type of addiction. It is important for us to know how to handle that in a healthy way. In this episode I discuss the importance of boundaries and how to set them up so that you can be sure to follow through with those boundaries.
In addition we have to set ourselves up for success, this includes having the proper resources on hand not only for the person struggling, but also for ourselves. And also setting goals. What do we want to accomplish, where do we want to be, and taking that hard look at ourselves and being honest with what is going on.
We have to remember that as someone dealing with an addict, they are not the only one going through things, but that you are dealing with things just as the addict is.
