Living by the Japanese code of Bushido with Sara
Manage episode 389192600 series 2550389
Bushido means “way of the warrior.” It is also known as “The Samurai Code of Chivalry.” The laws of Bushido focus on honor, courage, skill, and loyalty above everything. The 8 virtues include: Justice, courage, mercy, respect, honesty, honor, loyalty and self-control.
Sara talks about being a sports mom, sitting in the stands at her sons’ individual water polo and basketball games and reflects that her behavior isn’t always admirable. She also uses the symbolism of how you act in the stands to how you act in life. A few of the parents started talking about Bushido and Sara wanted to share it with her listeners as a good code of living whether in the stands at sports or in the stands of life.
What you put out into the universe is what you get back, so it is wise to be very intentional and conscious about our behaviors. Yelling not such nice things in the sports arena, is not any more acceptable than doing so in life. Sara is working on the last code of losing control in any situation. Which virtues do you need to work on?
