This week, we gain an insider’s perspective into the heart of the collision industry!
Our special guest, John Shoemaker, Business Development Manager for BASF Refinish, shares his extraordinary journey from an early introduction to bodyshops at 14 years old, to ascending the ranks to become a highly- influential figure in the industry.
Listen as he highlights how work from his Air Force days, helped him approach the repair process from a different perspective.
Here's a few highlights from our interview:

  • How he transitioned from a MSO dealership body shop manager to sough-after consultant.
  • The evolution from employee to starting his own consulting company.
  • The simple ask from an industry editor, turned his shop experiences into enlightening articles, becoming a contributing columnist for a trade magazine.
  • John shares his emphasis on the value of improving the customer experience in collision repair. He talks about the post-COVID-19 customer expectations and how he developed scripts to enhance the customer experience in collision centers.
  • His unique approach to damage analysis, and the financial benefits of "finding the last part" and it's impact on customer satisfaction.

But his passion isn’t confined to just vehicles and customer service; he enjoys mentoring young people entering the industry, presenting at trade schools and technical colleges, as well as industry events.
John's insights will make you see the collision industry from a completely new perspective! Be sure to join us on this one!
