Join us as we share best bits from the 2025 Unbound Leadership Conference! You’ll hear brief audio clips from the four main sessions along with Jenn and Lisa’s personal takeaways. Neal Lozano kicked off the conference on Friday evening with his talk, “The Kingdom of God is Advancing.” We learn about a scripture and a song that accompanied Neal’s talk. The second talk was entitled, “He Himself Understood It Well,” by Tom Holloway of Global Awakening who presents his topic with humor. Jenn notes how Jesus fully entered into our humanity, even just by living an “unremarkable life” before His time of public ministry. Also, Lisa shares of a marked moment in her own experience that relates to Tom’s talk. Fr. Boniface Hicks, a Benedictine monk and Director of the Institute for Ministry Formation at Saint Vincent Seminary, spoke on Saturday evening with the title: “Everybody Has a Beautiful Story that Deserves to Be Heard.” His talk helps Lisa gain insight into the Fourth and Fifth Keys of Unbound. Jenn appreciates the practical aspects of Fr. Boniface’s words and the vulnerability displayed in what he shared. From Matt Lozano’s final talk, “The Whispers of God,” Jenn emphasizes distinguishing the difference between listening and hearing when it comes to the voice of God. And Lisa gleans from Matt’s insights into how the disciple John listened to Jesus’ heart and how that is an example for us. Trivia tidbit: What process does Matt Lozano go through when he is preparing a talk? Listen and find out from Jenn! Listen to the 2025 Leadership Conference talks here. “I have always known Jesus to be my best friend,” shares Helen Stewart, Regional Coordinator for Ireland who describes herself as just a simple girl from the country. Helen organized the recent Unbound conference in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, where Matt Lozano presented, along with Sue Walsh of Unbound UK. As a young mother, Helen unexpectedly experienced crippling anxiety which created what she now knows were “entryways.” She believes the enemy stole both her voice and her joy. “He only took what I allowed him to take, but I didn’t know it back then.” But she never stopped praying, stating it as less a crisis of faith and more an experience of deep loss. In a moment of stark honest anguish during her quest for inner healing, Helen spoke candidly with Jesus. She remembers sitting alone in a church. “I was looking at Him and He was looking at me.” In that instant, the sun found Helen and the Son of God took hold of her and pulled her into His divine love in an experience she describes as “A Kaleidescope of Hope.” Helen’s name means “Bright shining one,” and she shares how that title relates to her faith mission. Reading Unbound added to Helen’s healing and provided a “tool kit” with which to bring healing to others. Still basking in the post-conference glow, Helen mentions a ministry moment where the “Tears were tripping me.” She concludes with sharing the dream and prayer of her heart for Ireland. In this concise yet thorough episode, Neal Lozano airs the contents of his latest book Unbound Unpacked: The Exorcising Task of the Believer . We learn about the book’s beginnings, growth, and unique approach that provides overview, yet answers often-asked questions and concerns about Unbound Ministry. “There’s an urgency today like there was at the dawn of Christianity,” states Neal regarding the message in Unbound Unpacked. “Many people don’t have a practical way of understanding how evil spirits can influence their lives.” Who benefits most from the message therein? Church leaders with limited time to study but with active interest in Unbound are given a basis for understanding Unbound’s Five Keys. And friends who provide Unbound Ministry can use Unbound Unpacked for a quick personal review of the ministry, or to pass it along to others. Part I of Unbound Unpacked summarizes Unbound Ministry and includes remarkable testimonies. Part II explains how to lead someone through the Five Keys. The book also offers a personal benefit. “Many have incorporated the Five Keys into their daily prayer,” says Neal of the clergy who have embraced the message of Unbound. In closing, Neal talks about the surprise of being an author and how God can surprise each of us in our own lives! Listen today and learn from Neal and Lisa! “Anyone seeking freedom is coming with a heart that’s just beautiful,” states Neal Lozano while sharing about connecting heart-to-heart with someone desiring Unbound prayer. “What we’re offering them is our presence, our past experience, receiving from God, and our faith.” Prior to an Unbound session, Neal prays on his own – recently it has been the Lord’s Prayer. Within the session, he invokes the Holy Spirit, asking for help from our Heavenly Father, and for the intercessor present to bring before the throne of God what they hear. Neal offers tips for making a connection with the prayer recipient; the first is to relax. “Don’t be in a hurry. Connection is the underlying thing here,” says Neal. Listeners will learn helpful ways to connect, specific questions to ask, how to be curious in a healthy way, tips about taking notes, and how to bring things to the next level. A leader, having dealt with their own frailty and brokenness, remembers how pain feels, even if their own pain was healed long ago. The prayer recipient can sense that the leader understands and identifies with them. Jenn asks thoughtful questions and reminds listeners that the Unbound Ministry Guidebook is a helpful resource available through Heart of the Father’s store. Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Father David Barrow –all these can be found in Westminster, London! But it’s Father David Barrow with us on Open Doors this Holy Thursday 2025. He is doing transformative work by incorporating Unbound into parish programs and ministry. Some years back, Fr. David encountered a spiritual war zone which made him open to deliverance prayer. Trying to fight the devil had felt like “boxing in air,” but then a fellow priest told him about Unbound. He attended an Unbound priest retreat and learned about the Five Keys. “Unbound to me has meant a whole understanding of deliverance prayer that has had many implications for me personally but also for the way I do ministry.” Recognizing deliverance was part of the early church, Fr. David integrated the Five Keys into his parish’s RCIA program (a formation course for those entering the Church). And what a difference it made! “The first effect we saw was that people were hungry for more. Sometimes we were there up to midnight because people didn’t want to go home. A lot of people found freedom from traumas they had suffered in their lives.” RCIA became a lifegiving source for individuals but also formed a body of people that could animate the parish. Fr. David has written a short paper on how to include the Five Keys in an RCIA program. This paper is available here and soon to be on the Heart of the Father website. Listen to the very end to hear how Fr. David associates the unusual name of his parish with Unbound! Find two beautiful testimonies of those who went through RCIA with Fr. “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend us your ears…” Or should we say, lend us your eyes as we imagine ourselves with Roman citizen Saul in the dramatic moments described in Acts 9. Saul, chief persecutor and killer of early church Christians, encounters the voice of Jesus amidst a blinding light. Lisa, Emily, and Jacqueline examine this conversion story in three parts. First, Lisa discusses the moment on the road to Damascus when Saul is blinded by light and falls to the ground. What was it like for his companions and the owner of the home where Saul then stays? Parallels are drawn to the three days Saul spent in darkness and the time between Jesus’ death and resurrection. Emily looks at the early Christian Ananias and his response to the vision where Jesus tells him to go help Saul, someone greatly feared by Christians. His bravery in the face of real danger is recognized and applauded. She notes how Saul went from being an enemy of Christ to an instrument in the hands of God to encourage the early church. Jacqueline speaks of Saul’s first days of ministry, the surprise of his conversion, and the plots against Saul’s life. We hear about Barnabas who vouches for Saul’s credibility and the church experiences dramatic growth. She is struck by the villain-turned-hero drama and how Saul risks his own life to preach the gospel alongside those whom he previously had been seeking to kill. The question in closing is: How are we called to be like Saul and do a 180 to obey God in the moment? Join us as we immerse ourselves in this dazzling story. Support our mission and donate today ! In this fifth week of Lent, we feature a paralytic whose four friends lowered him through a roof to be healed by Jesus. The value of friendship is discussed and what it means to “carry a friend.” Paralysis can be physical but also can occur emotionally and spiritually in response to challenges faced. In Unbound Ministry, we come alongside a person and let the Lord do His work. Jenn, Jacqueline, and Lisa imagine being immersed in this scene as one of the characters – the paralyzed man, or one of his friends, or the homeowner whose roof was opened up. Or perhaps as someone in the crowd where “amazement seized them all,” and even what it might have felt like to be Jesus in that moment. Jesus demonstrated His divinity by first forgiving the man’s sins. He perceived the reaction of the Pharisees and saw what was in their hearts. He knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts too. Carrying a friend can involve big events and hard moments, but even with small acts of help we can help to carry someone. Listen and encounter Jesus for yourself today. Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he; He climbed up in a sycamore tree for the Lord he wanted to see… Many of us remember singing this Sunday School song which speaks of a short man named Zacchaeus who was a rich tax collector and wanted badly to catch sight of Jesus. We know Zacchaeus’ name because Jesus spoke it upon seeing him in the tree, stops the parade of people, and invites himself to Zacchaeus’ house. This was a scandalous idea because the practice of the Pharisees was not to cross the threshold of a tax collector and sinner’s home. But Jesus wasn’t scandalized. As we seek Him, Jesus meets us where we are and enters in. He wants to come to our home and visit each room. It just takes one encounter with Jesus to completely reconfigure one’s life and bring a person to greater freedom and transformation of heart. Matt says he would give the story this subtitle: “I thought I was searching for Jesus, but I found he was searching for me.” Listen and encounter Jesus for yourself today. Welcome to the third episode of the Open Doors Lenten podcast series covering various Stories of Conversion. This week, Neal, Lisa, and Jacqueline gather for a poignant dialogue surrounding the story of a woman healed from twelve years of hemorrhaging. The profound poverty of this woman is discussed and why the constraints of the Levitical Law would have caused her such desperation. “And then she heard about Jesus,” says Neal, “And she grabs hold of it!” The woman verbalizes her belief that Jesus can heal her and merges herself into the throng to merely touch his cloak. The idea of preparation is discussed within the story and related to preparing for an Unbound session. What should we focus on if we aren’t sure what the Holy Spirit is showing us? Neal emphasizes how verbalizing something brings about conviction. The words of Jesus have such meaning here – words like the question, “Who touched me?” and the reassurance, “Daughter, your faith has saved you.” The woman – an individual in the crowd – was healed, yes, but more importantly touched by the Father’s love. Neal reminds us that as we hear, we can then respond, take a risk, receive, and give testimony. We encourage you to hear and personally respond to this podcast! Support our mission and donate today ! We’re blessed with a Lozano trio this second week of Lent as Jenn, Matt, and Janet discuss a story found in three of the four gospels. It’s about a boy who suffered from an evil spirit that would cast him to the ground, cause him to foam at the mouth, and even throw him into the fire! This story embodies healing — physical healing of the boy but also the healing exchange between the boy’s father and Jesus. Desperate, the boy’s father cried out to Jesus, “Have compassion on us!” He included himself in the request. And Jesus’ mercy shows in His response which resulted in the father’s words that have resonated through the ages, “I do believe, help my unbelief!” Human interaction was so important to Jesus. In the same way, Unbound Ministry involves compassionate human interaction with people as we speak and seek the power of Jesus. Join us as we ponder the depths of love, faith, and compassion that are shown in this passage. Support our mission and donate today ! What happens when someone is excited about their encounter with Jesus and runs to tell a friend? What happens when we meet the Lord and realize anew that He sees and knows us? The Open Doors Lent 2025 series begins with talk of Nathaniel who voiced the now-famous question, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” But once Nathaniel meets Jesus, his tune changes and he says, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” “The invitation and the yes to the invitation is so much greater than we may even realize,” says Jacqueline. Jenn makes a significant comparison between Jacob of the Old Testament and Jesus, based upon the words of Nathaniel. And Lisa shares what she learned about the meaning of the phrase, “Under the Fig Tree.” Jesus is El Roi – the God who sees. He sees us and helps us to see truth more clearly. Jenn exclaims, “He’s our bi-focals!!” Listen now, and see for yourself! The Chosen Clips: Crying out to Jesus Nathaniel Meets Jesus Support our mission and donate today ! On this Valentine’s Day, what do a Naval Academy graduate and a personal organizer have in common? The same alma mater, 37 years of marriage, four children, and a heart for Unbound ministry! In this episode, you’ll meet Sandy and Denise MacMurtrie and hear their faith-filled Unbound story. “Hi, I’m Denise!” she said. And so began their first conversation in the 1980’s while at Villanova University. “We still joke about that night,” says Sandy as he and Denise share where they were back then, where God is taking them, and where they hope to go on this life journey of faith. Shortly after Unbound was published, Sandy and Denise attended a conference and subsequently served as intercessors. Denise says that over the years, praying the Five Keys in her own devotions was foundational for her faith life. Two decades later with children grown, they thought of Unbound ministry often, saying to one another, “We should do this.” “Then we got this mailing about the Leadership Conference,” says Sandy. That was two years ago and today both the MacMurtries are key leaders on Heart of the Father’s local ministry team. You will be encouraged while listening to Sandy and Denise. Theirs is a story which shows two hearts filled with love for God, for each other, and for those to whom they minister! Do recent box office earnings and award ceremonies indicate a growing cultural interest in infernal supernatural forces? Should we be concerned? Check out this serious and solid episode that defines the occult and offers compelling reasons why people turn to it. The occult involves acts of the will which give an invitation to the spiritual realm. The good news? Within Unbound prayer these can and need to be revoked. Matt provides examples and tips for praying the Five Keys when someone has a history of occult practices. “It’s a combination of compassion and encouragement,” offers Matt. Jenn emphasizes the importance of listening to someone’s story and blessing their identity – reminding them that they belong to the family of God. They are searching and longing for something. Many people in today’s culture are growing up unchurched but still desire a connection to the spiritual world. The occult can bring about what Matt calls the “catechesis of demons.” A person needs to be untied so they can give their “yes” to the Lord. Pop Quiz: 1. Whom should we treat like an annoying little brother? 2. Who were the very first occultists? 3. What Biblical event inspired the title of Neal Lozano’s book Unbound?
