In this final 'sode of 2023, we wanted to take a look at some of the characteristics we've seen in business owners. We've now worked with 450+ pelvic health businesses, and some patterns have definitely emerged.
When we look at successful practices, here are some of the shared characteristics. You definitely don't have to have all of these (most of us have almost none at the beginning). Hopefully you recognize some things you're doing well and can identify others where you might need more work.

  • Know your 'Why'. When you're solid on the reason you started, it helps answer the difficult questions that come up in business
  • Self-Awareness. What are you good at? What are your limitations? How do you work best? Knowing yourself is key to running a practice.
  • Accept the 'Seasons'. There will be an ebb and flow to your business. Some months will be busy, others slow. You'll have to put in work upfront. By accepting the seasons we reduce panic and make sure we're still working towards our goals.
  • Growth Mindset. The belief that you can learn or figure out just about anything - after all, you're smart, dedicated and have a major incentive to learn!
  • Hard Work. At the end of the day, there's no substitute for hard work. No magic formula or 'get rich quick' scheme when it comes to business.
  • Radical Responsibility. Everything that happens in the business - positive or negative - is your fault. The sooner we accept that power and responsibility, the sooner we can get to work.
  • Clarity and Focus. Do you know where you need to be focusing, or are you wasting time by trying a bunch of different things and getting nowhere?

We hope you've had an incredible 2023 and wishing you all the best in 2024!
