TRIGGER WARNING: Suicide

Today, we have Honey Beuf and Tess Kunik, a mother and daughter duo who are founders of The Liv Project; an organization created after Honey lost her daughter, and Tess her sister, Liv, to suicide back in 2019. It’s a tough conversation, but something that needs to be talked about. And both Honey and Tess have turned their grief into a chance to help others.

On this episode we talk about:

  • Liv’s life and how even while struggling with anxiety and depression, she was a light.
  • The hardest moments for Honey and Tess right after Liv’s death and how sharing stories about Liv’s life brings a huge release for them.
  • They share advice for what friends or peers can do to support each other during the grieving process. As well as the warning signs people should look out for when their child or someone they know might be suicidal.
  • What The Liv Project is and how they collaborate with different people who’ve been affected by suicide. Together they created a card game called “The Game that Goes There” which opens up conversation between people and breaks down walls.
  • Recognizing through therapy that grief is love and there are ways to take care of yourself.
  • Then finally, what they would tell Liv now if they had the chance to.

I hope this episode inspires you to reach out to your loved ones and friends or to even call on others to ask for help. You are not alone, you are loved and wanted in this world. Let’s all take some time today to reach out to someone and tell them that you love them.

If you or someone you know is struggling call the Suicide Prevention Line at 1(800) 273-8255 or text TALK to 741-741 for the crisis text line.
