Although alcohol is often viewed as a way to be social or unwind after a long day, alcohol can have devastating consequences when abused. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), excessive alcohol consumption is linked to 95,000 fatalities annually in the United States. This makes it a leading preventable cause of death in the country.

More than 14 million adults have an alcohol use disorder. (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 2022).

Today’s episode is about alcoholism, what it does to our brain and body and our guest’s brave steps to recovery.

With over 27 years of experience helping women overcome alcoholism, live better lives, and become better parents, Lisa Boucher has helped hundreds of women overcome their addictions. In addition to being the author of six books, she is a mother of twin sons and lives in Ohio.

In this episode, we discuss the following:

  • Lisa’s unhealthy with alcohol and her recovery journey
  • Why admitting powerlessness is a necessary part of her recovery journey
  • Ways to move forward from addiction
